So the University of North Dakota is the latest to fall for the Grizzly scheduling ploy. Here’s hoping UND athletic director Brian Faison negotiated a great buyout clause because the Griz have been known to bail on teams.
It goes like this: The Griz, one of the top programs in the FCS and annually draw more fans than almost anybody (hence, a great gate), have brought in teams in a home-and-home only not to show up at their place.
They’re better off, in some instances, of paying a cheap buyout because they make so much on their own gate revenue. Ask Cal Poly, which is always starving for home games, although there is hope now that the Grizzlies finally honored the Mustangs last year. Still, I’m a little suspicious of the "might be 2013" line in Wayne’s blog.
There would be no better home game, other than the Bison, for the Sioux. Whether the Griz make it to Grand Forks remains to be seen.
