Former NDSU standouts Ben Woodside and Brett Winkelman have one game in the books as professional basketball players in Europe.
Woodside, a 5-foot-10 guard who is NDSU’s all-time leading scorer, scored seven points in his first game with Graveline-Dunkerque in France. His team lost to a team from Paris.
Competing in the highest division in France, Woodside also had four assists while making 1 of 4 field goals. His next game is Oct. 10.
Winkelman, a forward who is NDSU’s No. 2 all-time leading scorer, scored 13 points in his first game with Edines Pavia in Italy. His team lost to Trenkwalder.
Competing in the second-highest division in Italy, Winkelman made 4 of 10 field goals and both of his free throws. His next game is Oct. 11.
Both Woodside and Winkelman, of course, helped NDSU win last year’s Summit League championship to advance to the school’s first NCAA Tournament.
Great news guys. Congrats, goodluck and keep up the great work.
