Woodside named best point guard

Former Bison guard Ben Woodside was named the best point guard in EuroChallenge basketball by a beat writer:

We asked basketball journalist Yarone Arbel to take a look back at the EuroChallenge season, compare stats and pick the best of the best. And the award(s) goes to…

Ben Woodside (BCM Gravelines Dunkerque)

Stats: 18.5 ppg, 5.5 apg, 3.5 rpg, 35.3% 3P, 1.4 spg, 2.9 tpg

“This is the second season in a row for Ben Woodside with Gravelines and the second season he’s playing with them at the EuroChallenge, but only this year he elevated his game to the top level. Woodside finished the season as the top scorer with 18.5 ppg, top passer with 5.5 apg and was also ranked 1st in Free Throws Made and Free Throws Attempted. It was enough to lift his club to the quarter-finals, which is certainly not a bad result for the French side.”

Runner up: Patrick Beverly (Spartak St. Petersburg)

  1. If his contract is up, there might be a chance at nba this summer ….in past teams woulda had to pick up his entire contract as a buyout. Plus with the way BAREA of the mavericks plays at 5 10…youd think that would help out woody.

    Worse case ,.$ 250-300, 000 / year isnt bad in france……oui oui???

  2. Woody, the American kid who is tearing up Europe, and wants to play in America is apparently not good enough for NBA teams. Ricky Rubio who is a Spanyard, supposedly is still being begged to come and play in the USA, but would rather stay in Spain. Something wrong here. Rubio Stay home and Woody come and help defunk the Wolves.

It is just like college teams going after the superstars in every state but their own, when so much home grown talent is right in front of their noses.

Go Woody! Any more updates on the rest of the fab 5.

    Out here.
