The Harvey hotbed

Perhaps it’s time for NDSU to bring in former head coach and Harvey native Rocky Hager for some ol’ fashion Harvey Hornet touch. NDSU has offered Harvey quarterback-safety MJ Stumpf. He’s 6-foot-2, 195 pounds who Harvey head coach Brad Sandy calls the most physical player he’s ever coached. “He’s a hitter,” Sandy said. “The kid is for real. Anybody who has played us knows who No. 12 is.”

Stumpf passed for 1,342 yards and ran for 660 more, but it appears the Bison want him more as an outside linebacker. As a safety, he had six interceptions.

There’s more to Harvey, too. Tucker Nordby, a 6-6, 240-pound lineman, is getting the Division I attention, too. He’s been offered by UND and has been to the University of Minnesota’s camp. Sandy said to his knowledge NDSU has yet to offer. Nordby had 19 receptions as a tight end for 346 yards and seven quarterback sacks on defense.

  1. Tuckers not a D1 prospect until an actual D1 teams offers him. Stumpf could be a hard nosed hitter, niiiice.

Mollberg from DL, eden prairie’s andrew larson would be an amazing combo if bohl lands them.

Any other local kids getting looks, breckenridge stephan erlandson is and fergus falls has yet another big lineman coming up feeney got anyone at moorhead yet?

    • Hey, these are 17 and 18-year old kids. Why do you need to be such an A$$? Are you that immature and self-centered that these kids can’t enjoy the attention without your constant berating?

  2. Tucker’s a great player from what I have heard thru the grapevine. If UND gets him, it would be a nice addition to the team when they start Big Sky play. NDSU should really take a serious look at him. Harvey seems to really have a great football tradition.

  3. And I didnt berate any of them in my original post. Actually complimented them!

    • It’s disturbing how you keep tabs on these young men. Shades of John Wayne Gacy.

  4. Lakes,
You’re suppose to know that any time the suzies make an offer, it automatically makes that them a DI athletic.

  5. All 4 of these guys seem to have the frame to do something great for NDSU’s football team. Would love to see Bohl keep the best talent in the state for NDSU.

They are obviously all DI prospects.

  6. It is great to see that ND is producing some great recruits. I am with you Lakes in wondering if the Spuds have anyone yet. I know if Feeney stays at Moorhead for a while they will produce players just like South did. It will be another great source of talent for the Bison as well as the Dragons and Cobbers. I have heard that the state of South Dakota is going to have some really good high schools players graduating in 2012. The Bison always seem to be able to land some good talent from SD on a regular basis. Go Bison!

  7. Tucker Nordby can play D1 football at most major colleges across this country! I saw him play out here in California and we miss seeing him rip through talent here that would make you drool up there in ND. Quit hating on this young man since he is being looked at by many D1 schools. I am talking about major schools that are ranked. If the Bison dont move faster they will lose out on him. He would make a great Tight end and to be honest I hope he shocks all you naysayers when he signs! Out of State.!
