Bison-Gopher tickets: You tell us the best way

Got the following message from a friend of mine concerning my story in today’s Forum about the Bison-Gopher ticket situation:

Right on about Bison-Gopher tickets. I have more friends asking if I have extras for that game than for Nebraska. Are they nuts?!?

I’ve always gone by the theory that, for anything, there is always tickets. You just have to look. In this case, and considering that Gopher football isn’t a hot item right now, you would have to believe U of M fans will surrender tickets for an FCS game. It’s just a matter if they’ll put together the effort to do so.

What’s the best way to get tickets now that NDSU’s batch is gone? You tell us:

  1. First off, chill out. Tickets right now are at a premium, as impatient fans have booked their spots. There will be two much better times to get tickets than today: as the season approaches and season ticket holders drop their singles and the day of the game.

    • If the Goofs take a pipe their first two games tickets will be easy to come by.

  2. I got 10 tickets through a fellow NDSU teammate in Minneapolis. He knew a few season ticket holders who were not interested in going to that game. NDSU will have more fans at that game than the gophers. They, ticket holders and the U of M athletic office are able to get a premium because of how well we travel. I’d start looking now and pay the premium cause if, and its a big if, the gophers are any better this year than years past no one is going to give up their ticket. Their fans are hungry for wins and they know there is no way they beat Nebraska but they have a slim chance to beat us. Thats why no one cares about the Nebraska game.

P.S. There is a slim chance I have couple extra and will update as the game gets closer in case anyone is interested.

  3. I just looked on stubhub, and there are 440 tickets available for this game ranging from $47 to $200. I found 4 pretty good tickets at $100 each several months ago on stubhub. This game is going to cost me less (driving) than it will cost me to see the Indiana State game later in the year (flying).

  4. The night game makes it less likely Gopher season ticket holders give up their tickets for this game. Same is true for students. Should be lots of pre-game partying. Should the Gophs show promise in their first few games, I would say maybe 8,000 Bison fans in the house max.

  5. I had no problem getting tickets. Finding overnight lodging was another matter. What else is going on in the metro area that weekend?

  6. NDSU/GOPHS is more popular than iowa, neb!!! Its gonna be 50/50 & its a fun rivalry with friends/family!!

    I got gopher season tickets.

Lakes will be throwing an AWESOME tailgate party 2 blocks from TCF stay tuned!!

PS Victory party will last thru the night into Vikings tailgate lot 1 vs detroit!!

  7. Don’t miss this game if you are a Bison fan! We need to fill TCF with Green and Gold. This will be just as exciting as the last two games with the Gophers.

  8. Sorry for off-topic, but come on Jeff!

“It’s a well-known name in Fargo: his cousins Jayd Kittelson, Wade Kittelson and Cody Kittelson all played for the Bison.”

What about Matt Kittelson!?! 2005-2009. Jeez

    • more exposure nationally for NDSU, love the FBS games, why not have 2 of them a year?

  9. i think it’s pretty neat how everyone gets all excited to go play a perennial laughingstock FBS team. losing to the sad sack gophers would create more exposure than winning the game will. yawn.

  10. Its exciting to be the main attraction in North Dakota. BISON vs. Gophers, it doesn’t get any bigger than that. Win or lose there is nothing like a big game.

  11. I also have a” sorry off topic” post. Now that the WAC has again raided the Southland Conference for UT-Arlington, is this a danger to the Summit of losing Oral Roberts? I’m sure the Southland is going to be looking for members now that the WAC has taken 3. But back on topic, it’s great when the Bison and Gophers meet. Isn’t this better than playing the Mavericks and Sioux? Not only meet, but have a legitimate chance at winning.

    • good point Macho; the bison didn’t really have a chance at winning the last 10, 12 years against the Sioux in football. so i can see your point.

      • Is this the same Sue team that lost to an NAIA team and has been abysmal as of late?

  12. Omg, really delusional , sioux falls U. Not 1 single solid win in 3 years
