  1. I like the fact that you took the time to include some clips of the last Gopher game as well as the Bison clips.

  2. Nice blog! Great video and insight. The new intro looks “totally 80′s style.” Jeff, you offiially look like a jail inmate with your orange!!

  3. Nice blog! Great video and insight. The new intro looks “totally 80′s style.” Jeff, you offiially look like a jail inmate with your orange and Doms fill in looks like the detective interviewing you!! Maybe a parole hearing?

  4. OK, I was at gopher game saturday. It was gorgeous out, dont worry about construction, just get down there at Noon and start partying at sallys on washington, 2 blocks south of TCF. its gonna be gorgeous out for the outdoor beer gardens there.

To the game, put 8 in box, shadow grey with jemison the entire game and put Mwill on mcknight. Grey cannot throw the ball when he is in the pocket. So get the Def.ends to make wide outside rushes the ENTIRE GAME and fill with linebackers.

Offensivly, gotta run 6-8 screens mininum, including wr bubble with holloway. Attack the seams with veldman, just throw it up brock.

And the #1 priority??? SCORE FIRST, PUNCH THEM IN THE MOUTH theyll roll over.

    • Mr. Kolpack, you are correct, you need to talk to the video editor. I clicked on this link because you appeared to have on an orange jumpsuit from the local correctional center. I was curious as to what kind of video the Forum would post that involved a inmate.

  5. NDSU fans and alumni tailgating for the NDSU-Gopher game:

Do not arrive at TCF until right before the game. There will be nothing to do for NDSU fans – it’s all Gopher tailgating lots around the stadium and Oak street is closed for a Gopher tailgating party.

There are no bars around the stadium except for BWW.

Go to the Fairgrounds, meet lots of new people who are NDSU alumni and then take the many shuttle buses down to the stadium.

    • PS – with the construction on Washington Ave due to the new light-rail line, it’s all screwed up on campus. You won’t find parking anywhere.

      • Stub & Herbs and Sally’s both have beer gardens about a block from TCF on Washington Ave. McNamara Alumni Center (goofy architectual buidling across the street) offers a couple of roll away bars (wedding stylish) and large screens and is very accepting of both visiting team fans and gopher fans, but is more of an older crowd., and BW3′s is steps away also.

Parking is nuts, don’t even think about trying to park around the stadium. This isn’t Fargo, parking is at a premium. Season ticket holders pay $100-$250 a season to be able to park in a parking ramp two to five blocks away from the stadium.

  6. One more thing. It would be nice to tailgate with other NDSU fans, but whoever planned a tailgating event at the State Fairgrounds was not thinking. It is a 20- minute drive from TCF Stadium and no where near the college gameday atmosphere a college football fan would like, unless you plan on attending the Hamline football game across the street from the State Fairgrounds.
Another good option is to park around campus at seven corners, (Washington & 35W) and take the many shuttles to the stadium a couple of hours before the game.

    • You can get free shuttle bus service from the fairgrounds directly to TCF Stadium and back again after the game. No worries about finding a parking place. I think this is a smart place for tailgating! In fact it is probably the only alternative for a large NDSU group. In case you didn’t know, the U of M owns a private road linking the main campus to the fairgrounds. Traffic will be no issue for the bus traffic.

      • I did not know about this secret road linking the main campus to the fair grounds. I would be interested to find out what road you are referring to.
Either way, the equivalent of tailgating at the state fairgrounds in St. Paul and then being bused over to Minneapolis for the game is like tailgating at the Red River Valley fair grounds and being bused to the Fargo Dome, plus a lot more traffic. Do you want a real Division I game day atmosphere or are you more at home tailgating beside the swine barn at the state fair grounds in St. Paul? I know my preference. To each their own.

        • Cars are not allowed on the private road between the St. Paul and Mpls campuses of U of Minn, Twin Cities. (the St Paul campus is adjacent to the state fairgrounds).

Therefore, there is no traffic. The physical distance between the two is less than two miles.

Around TCF might be a “real” DI tailgating atmosphere – but the catch is that it’s all for U of MN donors. What few lots they have near the stadium are filled with Gopher donors. It’s not a matter of space, you literally can’t park in those lots unless you pay big bucks to be a donor. What about that does not make sense?

The only NDSU tailgating/fan activity going on will be at the fairgrounds. Nothing has been officially or even informally organized near the stadium.

Feel free to be one of the few NDSU fans wandering around the exclusive Gopher tailgating at TCF.

        • The private road is called the U of M transitway. Only buses and bicycles are allowed on the road. I agree that the tailgating atmosphere around the stadium would be better than at the fairgrounds. We don’t have much of a choice though for a place to park our vehicles.

  7. Jeff, Shortell did play but more as a diversion, he did not throw a pass. On one play Shortell was at QB, Gray at WR, but came in under center to take the snap. On another Shortell gave to Gray on an end around who gave it to another WR (Moulton?) for a reverse. He didn’t play much, but Shortell did play.

  8. Ok the “good ol boys” network goto fairgrounds.

The D1 fans who want to experience FBS/BIG TEN partying will be at Sallys & Oak Street.

    +++++++++

Read my game post above, that is how we BEAT Minnesota, it will happen we have to come out and score right away and show them we will win this game!!

    • Yeah, that’s why the UofM fans tailgate at the Fairgrounds every week, because its not D1. You don’t need to be in the shadow of the stadium to tailgate, you just need a parking lot with a bunch of people looking to have a good time. My guess is there will be just as many MN fans at the Fairgrounds as NDSU fans, should be fun. I haven’t done it before but I’m told they sell burgers, beer and other items to make the afternoon entertaining (t-shirts, soda and junk) so I’m sure we’ll be just fine. The bars around TCF can’t handle the Hockey or Basketball crowds so I can’t imagine what a football crowd will do to them. I’ll take my chances in a parking lot with my own food and beverages.

  9. I hope I’m wrong but I think the Gophers will be fired up for this game.
The reason is if they get beat Saturday, it destroys their morale and confidence going into the Big Ten conference schedule. I’m willing to bet Coach Kill circled the date of this game because it’s THEIR Super Bowl. They must win or else all hell will break loose if they don’t. THEY cannot afford to lose this game. If they WIN it, it’ll be nothing more than a “nice win” because they beat an FCS school and should beat them. But if the Gophers lose it, watch out.
Kill knows that and will have them very ready.
With all due respect to the Bison, they’ve played and beaten two inferior teams and will have to elevate their performances individually and collectively. Coach Bohl knows that and will have them ready. I’ll cheer for the Bison but they have to
elevate to win. The STATEMENT in the “statement game” is “NDSU can elevate and win.” I hope that happens.

    • I should just let it go but I can’t…”it’s THEIR Super Bowl.” Come on scott, your better than that.

Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin on the Gophers’s schedule and your think NDSU is anything more than a speed bump for the Gophers on their way into Big Ten play? Granted the speed bump may give them a tough game, Michigan at “The Big House” in Ann Arbor is a little more like a Super Bowl.

  10. From the article found at:
    http://www.foxsportsnorth.com/09/20/11/Gophers-wont-underestimate-NDSU/landing_gophers.html?blockID=566085&feedID=3697

Sophomore offensive lineman Ed Olson said his last game at Mahtomedi High School came against Northfield High School and Bison defensive end Cole Jirik.

“It’ll be a big game,” Olson said. “People say it’s their Super Bowl. It’s our Super Bowl, too. We’re going to treat every game like it’s our Super Bowl, come out hard each game.”

  11. I agree with you NDOGG. What I’m saying is the implications are much worse for the Gophers if they lose this game Saturday to NDSU. I’m not saying this is their Super Bowl as opposed to Michigan, Wisconsin, OSU, or Iowa. Those are their rivalry games. I know that. But if they lose to an FCS school Saturday, it’s a morale breaker for them going into their Big Ten schedule. THAT’s what I’m saying. This is an opportunity game for us and it’s a red flag game for them. That’s what I’m saying. And Kill knows that and will have them ready for that reason alone.
    Maybe I should’ve been clearer.

  12. i feel coach bohl should of had a shot at the gopher job years ago…tressel came from.a lower division although he did resign…at any rate…but we were promised a big time hire from that wizard ad maturi….promised steak got burger…..not sure why maturi was still involved with kill.hire after brewster debacle
