No Prime Time just yet

It appears NDSU is going to hold off on the Marcus Williams-to-receiver experiment at least through this week. More on this story in Wednesday’s Forum, but receivers coach Kenni Burns showed Williams a few things in Monday’s practice and he said the sophomore caught on rather well.

One reason may be freshman Nate Moody’s progress (more on him later in the week). The coaches weren’t sure how he would react in a game and all Moody did was make two difficult catches for first downs, one a one-handed stab on the sideline.

If one more receiver goes down, however, look for Williams, who said he would relish the chance to play both ways in the same way of his childhood hero — Deion Sanders.

  1. get wahlo in there….send him deep.2-3 times..cant screw up a fly pattern…warren on slant routes

  2. I know I should be worried about lack of depth in our passing corp, but with McNorton and Ojuri and a great O-Line and a great defense I’m not.

At least, not for the next two games.

  3. MWILL WILL PLAY WR just sit back and enjoy, this guy will be the best athlete in NDSU history. him, crockett and veldman goto the BSA and beatdown anyone on the bball court. Lets ramp this up ZACH VRAA should be allowed to play this week!

  4. The Bison can also split DJ out at wide receiver and have Ojuri at running back if needed. There are options.

  5. Wahlo cannot beat out a walk-on freshman…..interesting.

Use the TEs more in the passing game. We’ll be fine.

  6. Marcus would be great at receiver but the more he is on the field as a DB, Kick returner and WR the better the chance of him getting hurt. Other than Jensen he is the most important player on this team. By the time the playoffs roll around in 3 weeks Vraa will be back and Gebhart should be back too that gives us Holloway, Smith, Vraa, Gebhart, Wahlo and Moody. We are deep at TE and DJ can lineup at WR we will be fine don’t spread Marcus Williams to thin! Go Bison!
