  2. Jeff, Dom, and Eric, you guys did a fantastic job of covering the Bison this season and were a great part of the journey that took us to a national championship. Can’t say enough of how everyone appreciates your hard work and how much I look forward to next season and what you guys have in store. Kudos on some great reporting all year long and thanks again.

  3. Hey guys, I appreciate the job you did this year covering the Bison. Here is my suggestion, don’t stop! Throw one up every once in a while covering the Basketball Team with a smattering of some of the other sports at NDSU.

  4. Yes thanks for all the coverage. It was great all season. It was disappointing to read about all the Sioux fans cheering for the Bison only to learn of our classless AD leading Sioux suck cheers and “kicking’ some ass!” Wish he could follow Coach Bohl’s lead and handle the victory with some poise and clash.

  5. If you watch the video, Taylor wasn’t leading any Sue Suck chants…It was the governor, who also tried to keep the nickname by signing a it into law…as far as kickin a$$ goes, it’s the truth, no?

  6. Yes we beat a very good team…handily. Just wish our AD could represent the university with some class and be gracious in victory as all great coaches do – and as our coach bohl does very well.

    • Gimme a break..Taylor IS class and was caught up in the moment…get off your high horse…The Bison are National Champs and I think it’s ok to show some emotion.

      • It’s ok for the average fan to get caught up in the moment, but not the AD of a university. The AD, like the president of a university, is a high ranking representative of that university. His actions reflect negatively on NDSU, whether he likes it or not. By accepting that job he is accepting a responsibility to be held to higher standards.

        • The worst thing about that chant is UND had nothing to do with our championship. They chose to stay behind when NDSU and SDSU made the move and they are not and will not be in our conference. UND is completely irrelevant when it comes to this national championship. UND also does not have a nickname so the chant is wrong.

          • The irrelevant team you refuse to play still has the Nickel….don’t you think Coach Bohl would want to beat the Sioux once before he leaves Fargo?

    • You have to understand that Gene Taylor was probably a box of wine in at the time the chanting began.

  7. Great job this season Dom and Jeff….Thanks again!…..National champions..WOW!
Whats next?……new turf…..a new banner (large one please)….and a lot of returning starters!

    • How about bigger video screens in the dome. Still needs more lighting too.

Jeff and Dom, Thank you! Loved getting all of the Bison info. you pass along. I doubt any FCS market can match the amount of media attention given to the Bison this year.

C’mon Bison fans, the Sioux chant is history. Lets move on.

  8. Congrats to the Bison! That was a most impressive, dominating playoff run….. I started following this blog during the last half of the season and the Bison postseason and wow, Jeff, Dom, and Eric (and whoever else worked behind the scenes) truly did a fantastic job. thanks gentlemen!

  9. I thought the ‘Sioux Sucks’ part was pretty classless, as well…..but it’s hard to stop impulsiveness in the moment…. (adults, shame on you–you should know better! Lead by example!) It’s great to have such wonderful coverage for those of us ‘left behind’ that couldn’t make it to the game. Congrats to all involved in making that happen!

  10. Jeff, Dom and Eric (as well as everyone else that worked on this blog) thank you for your hard work and great coverage. I echo the comments from another follower, please continue to give us Bison information and keep us up on Bison basketball as well.

Hopefully this National Championship spurs the giving to the BSA renovation. I know this is football but the basketball team is having a good season so far and with that renovation the sky is the limit.

Hail The Bison! National Champions again.

  11. Oh please you guys get over yourself. We deserve the right to be boisterous and crazy excited about our team and gloat. Who cares what people said…IT DOESN’T MATTER! jeez…

  12. Congraulations to the Bison and thank you to Jeff, Dom, and Eric for their superb coverage on the entire trip and for the whole season. Last I checked, the least classy thing I saw was the Sam Houston player flipping off people on National TV.

    • The section of Bison fans chanting “go back to the woods” on national TV doesn’t reflect well on our Midwestern “niceness”, either. I don’t care how long that chant has been around. It makes all of us sound like a-holes.

  13. Seriously guys you kicked ass all year! Recruiting, spring game, and we can do it all over

  14. Congratulations Bison on your championship run. Living here in the cities i follow you guys mostly on the internet. I left Fargo almost 20 years but i could’nt be more prouder of my home state than I am today. When we beat the Gophers I got my chance talk up the Bison. When the fans come down here and show the Bison pride it shows what the people here in the cities are missing- the sense of community. I also like seeing Sid Hartman blow a gasket. Thanks for a great year Go Bison.

  15. Dom and Jeff as I have said many times you guys did an unbelievable job! Thank You! What a great season to follow, I hope we can follow it up with another great season with large crowds and big wins and another title . . . the Title Run is On! Go Bison!

  16. What a bunch of sissies WE ARE NATTY CHAMPS WE ARE STILL IN DALLAS.PARTYING!!

Ndsu in the FBS asap, this fcs was too.easy.

And DONT delete this jeff, dom what are you afraid of?
Geez, relax we champs I.can be cocky

    • Well Lakes you did say we would win the title this year, even before the season started. What is your prediction for next year?? Go Bison!

  17. If you think the chanting was bad, you should have heard the stuff all around us at the game. It would have made a room full of Navy Seals Squeamish. I told some of our fans to chill and there were some SHSU fans sprinkled in by us and they were not shy about saying stuff either. It was a tense game and a lot of pressure so emotions were high. The Frisco folks said they will see ya all next year. I agreed and since it is a nice area, I think I will follow the team back there again next year.

  18. Wow, Jeff, that is a ridiculous conference record last year for 3 of the contenders this year! Let’s get a win this weekend!

  19. Congratulations to the NDSU Bison for earning a national championship. Hard work and faith pay off. My thoughts are that there are so many ex-players and coaches who came here and worked so hard when they knew they’d never be in the playoffs because of the transition period. This is their championship too. And they earned it by building a foundation for this team to reach for the stars and snatch ‘em too. A heartfelt congratulations to everyone at NDSU who led, who believed, and who worked to make this happen when many on the sidelines laughed and ridiculed us and did everything they could to make it as difficult as possible. NDSU just smiled, moved forward, and now has won its FIRST (of many) Division One national championships. I really think this move up is benefitting the “other” sports even more than football. I think wrestling and the Title IX sports are achieving at a higher level on a bigger stage. I thought that would happen but wasn’t quite sure. I think of the young lady that ran for a NCAA Division One championship in the 800 meters. I apologize for not remembering her name. And she’s just one. This move has been a win-win for NDSU all-around. My only question when this started was “where on earth is the money going to come from?” The Bison Team Makers rolled up their sleeves and answered that question. Every player on the football teams during the transition period and Joe Chapman deserve rings or some type of special mention. Maybe a plaque somewhere in the FargoDome.
Here’s my take on Gene Taylor’s comments: He shouldn’t have said the “kicked some ass” comments. Gene Taylor is a very classy person and that was a “fail” on his part. He’s incredibly smart and capable and he’s marketable. That’s my concern. I want him here as long as possible.
There was no place for the Sioux suck chants either. We’re NDSU and we’re a cut above. There were many Sioux fans who cheered us on because we’re NORTH DAKOTA State. So to them, I salute you and thank you.
There’s another unclaimed FCS football championship out there for next fall. So when weightlifting and the off-season program starts next week, NDSU Bison, get after it.
And thank you for a terrific, championship season.

    • scott–

Thanks for the state of the union address. Many Sioux fans cheered for the bison because they have class. The bison have a great team and made an incredible run in the playoffs. Bohl is a great coach and built a great program. But the AD is an arrogant doofus….and far from a cut above. “We’re from NDSU and we’re a cut above.” That’s where the arrogance and dreaming starts. Win with class like the team deserves.

  20. Dom, Jeff, Eric,

It was great to get to hang with you for a while down there. What a great job this year. Thank you all (and your team) for the season info. I am sooooo wore out but the smile will not go away for a long time.

  21. I’ll tell you what is going to happen next year….we will win it again. We made the march through the season and the playoffs look easy and there isn’t a team with as much talent returning as we have. We return the heart of our roster. As I’ve been saying all year, I think it is time we start looking at going FBS. Plenty of conferences out there who would be begging to get our programs and fanbase in, including some of the big boys.

  22. Talked to lots of big 12 fans. If Texas/Oklahoma/Oklahoma St/Kansas St leave, NDSU & UNI could fit in.
Itd take a lot of implosion.
    Mountain West would be fun
I used to be a big WAC/MAC guy, but we’d dominate those leagues.

Fargo could do it, 10,000 people.spent $500-1000 on this weekend, get them to donate that and we can get the FBS feasibilty study going.

  23. I say stay in FCS and plan to build a new Dome in about 10 years, maybe sooner. Great Season! Go Bison!

  24. Thanks Dom & Jeff for the outstanding coverage throughout the season.

Thanks NDSU football for putting Fargo and North Dakota on the national map.

Thanks Coach Bohl, AD Taylor, and Prez B for running a classy U and football program that thousands are proud of.

Thanks for a DI National Championship!

  25. To Dom and Jeff: Thank you for all your hard work. This is the only blog I check daily for information from you two. Anyone else who tries to do what you two do is only going to be a cheap imitation.
Thanks again and have a very Happy and Prosperous 2012.

  26. Can someone explain to me why we are worried about Taylor saying that we would “kick some ass”….. There is nothing wrong with saying that in the heat of the moment.

The Sioux Suck stuff is old and not necessary so I get why people would think that is less than classy.

Taylor’s comment should NOT be an issue. It’s not as if he talked disrespect to anyone or anything. It’s a commonly used phrase that has been said by 99% of the people who have read this.

    • Probably because there were so many children there. Parents usually don’t like that kind of thing. And children don’t read these posts. Anything else I can help you with?

      • That’s a pretty lame reason to get upset… Turn on the television. Go to the mall. Go to the grocery store. Go anywhere – Kids are going to hear a lot worse than that

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not a guy who enjoys swearing or hearing it but to rip on Taylor because he used the word “ass” is pretty petty. Kids are not sheltered like they used to be. I can guarantee that is a word that they hear each and every day. Sad but true.

        • i wasn’t offended at all. i thought he was referring to a misbehaving critter in the ndsu mule barn.

  27. Congrats to the Bison on being FCS champs. But they still have a long way to go before they can compete with the “big boys” (Gophers don’t count).

To those chanting “Sioux suck”, can you remind me who has the Nickel Trophy? I thought the Rocky Hagar days were over, but apparently NDSU still has as much class as the stinky animal they represent.

    Congrats to the players!

  28. The nickel trophy should be retired along with UND’s nickname. The nickel was relevant when they were the Sioux but those days have passed, they no longer have a nickname.

As for what Coach Bohl would want, I can assure you he would take another National Championship over beating UND in football. Currently UND football isn’t in NDSU’s league.

    • Bison Fan:

The Nickel will always be relevant despite what your or Taylor thinks. Most of the true fans from both schools want the game. Bohl has never beat the Sioux and if it would be such an easy victory, then the Bison should be begging the Sioux to play. At the end of the year, the Sioux were ranked #23 so maybe the leap isn’t that large? Appears to me the same schools playing for the FCS were the same schools playing for the divison 2 championships years ago. Talk is cheap and there’s only one way to find out if UND, in addition to Alabama and LSU, can hang with the Bison……

      • I consider myself a “true” fan and I couldn’t give tow licks if they ever play UND again. At first I wanted the game because it always had such a great build up and the atmosphere prior to and during the game was rarely matched with any other opponents. The last few years that hasn’t been the case, this years game with UNI had a similar build up to past UND games and then each playoff game just built off the energy created for the UNI game. If we play UND every so often I’m not opposed to it but I don’t want to play every year, we’re not in the same conference anymore so it just won’t have the same importance that it had when the winner was ofter NCC Champ and went on into the playoffs. Not saying it wouldn’t be important for local bragging rights but unless we’re in the same conference it’s unlikely it’ll ever have the same importance that everyone remembers it having.
