It’s been a crazy week with high school basketball, but wanted to touch more on NDSU wrapping up it’s 2012 football schedule. Obviously it’s been a hotly debated topic here on the blog, so I wanted to have everyone see my interview with Gene Taylor on why Nebraska wasn’t an option and future schedules going forward, please click here and let’s have some constructive thoughts after!
UPDATE 6:45pm LINK is up and going, enjoy interviews, let’s hear the comments!
?
Why isn’t Western Illinois on Bison football schedule in 2012 and 2013 ? Are they leaving the MVC ? Or, now that USD is in the conference, do conference teams skip one team a year to make room for other non-MVC opponents. Please address.
GO BISON
William, each team rotates now throughout the league, so that means NDSU does not play Western and also Youngstown comes to Fargo for a 2nd straight year.
Would that rotation also involve S.D.S.U. or Northern Iowa. It sure makes my Saturday when we tample those rabbits. Skipping U.N.I. might be wise cause their awfully good.
I reserve the right not to comment until the video link is up and working, therefore I am not commenting on the schedule or the video link not working. I will comment on the great job WDAY sports does, but in this particular case of the video not working, I have no comment. This no comment is in no way meant to be derogatory, it is just no comment. Thanks for letting me comment my no-comment. Go Bison.

I like Gene Taylor. My only question is? Where does SDSU get their money?
I agree completely with the way Gene and Craig have been scheduling games. I hope they continue doing what they are doing.
I, also, like the GT way of scheduling; unlike UNI, which needs to schedule two FBS games for the financial reward, NDSU isn’t that strapped for cash. There’s nothing wrong with having a couple of Kupchellas on the schedule………..the MVFC is a meat grinder; the 2′s need some meaningful minutes to prepare them for the conference schedule if they’re forced into action due to injuries.
English please?
Trouble filling the schedule every year. Getting more expensive to pay no-names to come in.
Simple solution.
UND.
Put down the arms, let each side compromise in some way, and just get the thing done. It’s been what, almost a decade now? Forget the fringe elements and fans who just want to snipe and bitch back and forth, grown adults should be able to figure this out.
I’m sure NDSU would gladly let UND play in Fargo every year. Gene wants 6 home games and if they go to UND every other year they only have 5. Call your AD and tell him to schedule UND AT Fargo every year and NDSU will probably sign on. If you expect NDSU to give up a home game every other year you are dreaming.
For example of fans who want to snipe and bitch back and forth, see two responses to my post.
And no, I’m not a UND fan. I want to see what’s best for the state and the two schools. It would be better to get a series together than keep playing the Prairie View A&Ms of the world. And it’s only going to get tougher for BOTH schools to keep filling schedules.
And it again, it keeps looking stupid. Almost EVERY other state in the country can get their two schools together. We just look like feuding hicks in igglos.
Almost every school in country complied with the NCAA on the indian nickname policy.
No. UND is not the answer. They will never agree on a fair price. We need othe kupchellas, ones that give NDSU some publicity, positive publicity, and take the NDSU Bison Banner to other parts of the country. Giving UND the big stage with The Bison is not a very good deal for NDSU.
I think the job NDSU Athletic department has done until now has been great and they need to keep it up. But here is a suggestion on how you could think outside of the box and get the NDSU / UND game everyone seems to want.
NDSU does not want to schedule UND because it would take away a home game on the other end of the home/home schedule. So how about doing what Ball State and Western Kentucky recently did to schedule in-state ravals, schedule the game at a neutal site Indiana/Ball State (Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis), Kentucky/Western Kentucky (LP Field in Nashville) they did it to increase stadium capacity….for their end of a home/home schedule. But how about this for an idea.
Rent out TCF Bank Stadium. Capacity 50,805. Schedule as a neurtal site game. Have half the tickets for NDSU, half the tickets for UND. You could still have 8,000 more tickets for each team than being at home – so you would be making some money on the game (a concern for both athletic departments).
Here is my question, could an NDSU/UND football game sell 50,000 tickets being held in Minnesota? If you could sell the tickets. It would be a win/win for both schools.
Wrongo, Indy, not everyone wants this game. Besides, it’s a scheduling nightmare locking into one specific OOC game every year. And why? the dome will sell out irregardless of who the Bison play………. such cannot be said of the “Whioux”. I imagine that some time in the next decade the game will resume; personally, that’s soon enough for me.
There is no such word as “irregardless”. Think about it. Every sentence you would use that word you simply can use regardless, that is why the word does not exist.
Great idea but do you want to give all of that economic boost to Twin Cities instead of Fargo and Grand Forks.
NDSu can’t afford to give up home games. They pay close to a quarter million to bring teams in.(Prairie View). It just isn’t fiscally responsible to give up those type of games.
Is there a need for a regular season game? It’s just a matter of time before these two teams start meeting in the playoffs and then its game on. Winner has bragging rights for a year and moves on. The loser is done for the season.
You blast the local (Fargo) media but how many times had KVRR sports lead with a UND story?
As more and more teams become scared to schedule NDSU the $200,000+ number is only going to get higher, not lower.
You have just given other teams an excellent strategy. Act fearful and raise the price. Good way to bring home those NDSU student fees to their respectivie campuses.
I’m lecturing someone about their grammar and I misspell grammar as “grammer” yet no one points that out. A sad indictment of our educational system.
You could care less or you couldn’t care less?
Nice try Sam.
why can’t UND people get over NDSU?
Blog police=lucky bunny turd=gopher fan=lake$b.ison=billy big wheel.
It’s really funny when you create a new name to defend one of your other ones. Are you sure you aren’t really 12, instead of 35 like the police report showed?
A real contender would go on the road and play anyone, anywhere. These teams holding out to get more money from Gene and Co. will get whats coming to them when we step on the field. Than all they can spend all that money how ever they want in November and December when we are winning a 2nd consecutive Nat’l Title.
Who is ready for spring practice?! This guy is!
