Martin: knows the depth chart situation

Here is my story on Andre Martin, who transferred from Northern Iowa to North Dakota State at the conclusion of spring semester. He seems like a rather classy individual, although I would guess some of his former teammates will let him know what they really think of the move when the teams play next fall.

One part of the story that wasn’t printed were Martin’s comments on finding a place in the lineup. He’s coming here knowing that the starters coming out of spring football are Brendin Pierre and Marcus Williams,

”We have two great corners here,” he said. “It’s me getting into (a graduate program) and me getting better as a player. That’s the only way to get to the next level. Like I said, we have two great corners, as well as a coach behind me too, so you can’t beat it. It’s icing on the cake.”

  1. So, it’s settled, Martin is competing for CB playing time. I thought maybe it might be safety since that is where he played last year and the Bison are a bit thinner there, I think.

  2. Testiment to the althletic/acedemic program Bohl has tried to keep links to with smart upstanding athletes. I hope he came here for acedemics and rocks the turf on Saturdays.

  3. Sounds like a smart guy. He knows his role. He realizes NDSU has two great corners already and that he wants to just learn and get better with them, even as a backup. I also wonder if he could me moved to safety. Pierre, Martin, Williams in the secondary at the same time could be lethal.

  4. I hope martin’s favorite band is NICKELBACK cuz he and us are gonna see alot of it this fall!

Glad to him on board & leaving the UNI THUG U.

Ill say it here first, when MWILL puts up another anazing year (with int stats & another natty champ) he will have a great shot at leaving after junior year and being a top 2-3round draft pick….. IF BOTH HAPPEN.

    • Considering your terrible track record on all the players you said would be a lock in getting drafted I find your post most humorous.
I hope your prediction doesnt jinx MW as well.

      peace

    • Wow! I hope you are right and MWill had another great year and the Bison win the title again but I don’t want him to go early but if he did leave early what would that say about the NDSU football recruiting? It would speak volumes about how well the Bison coaches recruit! Go Bison!

  5. yea, like I jinxed the team from winning the title last year huh. Get a clue.
Jeff yes, MWILL could start at ANY college team in the nation.

    • You didnt respond about the players you said were a lock to be drafted. How many got drafted? here is a clue—None of them were.

  6. 2012 FCS National Championship banner shipped to UND athletic department. Proving once again how irrelevant DI-AA-FCS football really is on a national level. NCAA doesn’t even know the difference between NDSU and UND.

  7. Just like the time they issued teh hockey’s playoff poster and labled the UND team as NDSU? Ha Ha!

NDSU football. #1Sport in North Dakota! Go Bison!

  8. Exactly…big fish in a very little pond. NDSU and UND both irrelevant on the national sports scene. I bet Kentucky receives their national basketball championship banner.

  9. Doesn’t matter if he never plays a down because we took a solid UNI player and took him off their roster. Although I am confident he will contribute in some fashion whether its as a nickel, dime, or special teams. Hes also an insurance policy if we end up with some injuries. Hes an excellent athlete and works well with coach Klieman. But this is more about his education. Good luck!
