A Look Into The Future

Hope everyone has a great start to the Fourth Of July weekend and has a safe holiday! Usually July 4th is reserved for baseball, but the gridiron will get some attention this weekend, starting today with the Minnesota Football All-Star Game which will be played in St. Cloud. It’s been moved out of the Twin Cities thanks to a new NCAA rule which prohibits All-Star Games from happening on college campuses, that’s why the Shrine Bowl will not be played at the Fargodome in a couple weeks, but at Shanley High School. Anyway, tons of college talent on the field today including four Bison recruits:

RB – Josh Werness – Anoka High School (Preferred Walk-On)

LB – Zach Riopelle – Warren-Alvarado-Oslo

DE – Brett Pierce – Holy Angels

OL – Zach Johnson - Eastview

SDSU and UND also have 4 recruits each in the game, the DL Connection for UND (Joe Mollberg and Brian Labat) and SDSU’s two studs from Totino-Grace, Nick Carr and Andy Moritko. WDAY 6 Sports will be in St. Cloud today, we’ll have full highlights at 6 and 10, so come inside and make sure you check out a look at the future Bison. Have a great and safe Holiday weekend!

  1. Arizona was well represented too with Chuks Amaechi, Austin Farnloff, and Marcus Brantley. The writer who was covering the game called Amaechi a freak of nature and was shocked he didnt land in Arizona

  2. I think it is terrible that the NCAA made such a stupid rule. Why hold the kids to either a high school or an NAIA campus, especially when there is a nice climate controlled facility (Fargodome) right there? I have a question, Dom, if you can answer it. If the restriction applies to college campuses, would the Alerus Center still be an option since it is not on UND campus, or would it be restricted since it is a home facility to an NCAA team? It would be nice to have at least one indoor option for the Shrine bowl.

  3. Its a BISON blog and you work for FARGO papers/stations! We dont give a rats butt about sdsu or und players!
