Ten straight days of practice and finally some rest for NDSU. I’m sure that’s what the players are thinking today after wrapping up this morning, they’ll enjoy Sunday off before heading back in on Monday. Some highlights today was the annual “hands team competition” which is a kicking drill where the team tries to identify who will be on the field for onside kicks, last year Brock Jensen was one of finalists in the competition. Today, two offensive lineman stood out with some great hands, Joe Haeg and Tyler Gimmestad, each were into the final rounds. As was Christian Dudzik, Zach Vraa and Jordan Champion, who ended up taking the competition. The rest of the updates from today’s practice you can watch here.
Couple other news and notes, if you missed it last night, former Bison tight end Matt Veldman made a huge impression in his debut with the Jacksonville Jaguars, catching the game winning two point conversion to beat the Super Bowl champion Giants, 32-31. Here’s the clip from last night’s news: http://www.wday.com/event/article/id/67525/group/Sports/
The huge college football news of the weekend was last year’s Heisman finalist cornerback Tyrann Mathieu was dismissed from LSU for an alleged second drug test failure. Now Mathieu is looking to play right away, which he can only do at the FCS level and there have been some interesting teams come to the forefront. ESPN is reporting that McNeese State, out of the Southland Conference is the favorite, they are located in Lake Charles, Louisiana, about two hours from Baton Rouge. Also included in the ESPN report, Jackson State and a third team, Prairie View A&M. That obviously will scream out to NDSU fans, since the Panthers come to Fargo on September 22nd, something we’ll follow closely.
Saw some of the players at a local establishment last night. Camp is going good. Guys are excited for the day off to heal some bumps and bruises. These guys are excited for the season to get started.
hopefully Prairie View A&M offers Tyrann the most weed, so he will end up going there and we get to see him play Sept 22nd.
On the offensive line…sure you got names correct?
2 days to SHAC basketball deadline what the heck is happening nothing is being said no other solutions being proposed this sucks if this fall’s through
It’s all about choices people make. My business was contacted about making a donation to the project and we would have our name permanently engraved on a plaque. We were also contacted by an organized focused on providing milk for North Dakota elementary children whose parents couldn’t afford the cost. We chose children.
