FCS Pick ‘Em – Week 2

The upset bug was all over FCS last week, four of the former 1-AAs won with the headliner being Youngstown State’s two touchdown win at Pittsburgh; Indiana State and Northern Iowa also nearly joined that party from the Missouri Valley. As for our picks, led by wins by Indiana and Maryland, Jeff has an early two game lead in our series, but some interesting games to choose from this week; including a battle between two of the FCS powerhouses. Our NDSU-Colorado State pick will be in Saturday’s Forum, along with the Bison PreGame Show on WDAY.com tomorrow. Enjoy!

  1. I got 4 tickets to Colgate too bad I’m downtown Denver.

NDSU will win this game gonna be a slugfest!! Tons of NDSU fans down here seems like 4000+

  2. Do you guys even know anything about Portland State? Guess UND will just have to prove you wrong.

  3. Minnesota
    Miami (OH)
    Illinois State
    Indiana State
    California
    South Dakota
    Louisville
    Youngstown State
    Portland State
    Montana State
    South Dakota State University
    Eastern Washington University
    Georgia Southern

    Appalachian State

  4. Both Colorado State and Colorado have weaker power ratings than NDSU. Hope we can remains focused. If we do, we should beat them.

  5. No one is picking New Hampshire…the 12th ranked team in the country against the lowly Gophers? Gophers roll.

Appalachian State at home will win.

  6. Great article today Jeff but there is a big difference between the Ball States, Wyomings, Kansas, Iowa States, Minnesota and Central Michigans and Alabama, LSU and USC.

Just a little perspective on how each division’s lower teams will lose to a higher team in a lower division. What is the cumulative record of the FBS teams NDSU has beat? 16-53?

Similarly, the top Division II schools are also going to beat the bottom FCS more times than not, but you just don’t see those games scheduled. Division II Pittsburgh State, Duluth, Wayne State and Grand Valley would roll over FCS programs like Missouri State, Idaho State and N. Colorado.

    • the only reason Duluth won the National Championship is because all the good teams left the NCC and D2 football is watered down. Duluth would get smoked by any top 20 FCS team and lower end FBS team

Back in the good old days, the NCC had 53 and 48 scholarship players. Then it dropped to 32. Now the Northern Sun is in the 20s.

I think the top D2, D3, and NAIA can compete with decent FCS teams but not the top 20.

  7. Bigtime can’t u post on your own teams blog ? Go away.

CSU player tweeted thIs NDSU the NCAA JV champs will see what it’s like to play a REAL FBS team.

Thats bulletin board stuff right there I HOPE the 8 players play today……

  8. There are big differences in all areas of football regardless of division. You listed the top 3 programs in the country. Compare those schools to any other school in the nation and there is going to be a big difference regardless of what division. You can draw lines anyway you want. You don’t have to drop down to far from the top 5 FBS to start seeing less differences.

  9. Last week I was 10-1. This week is much harder picks

    Minnesota
    Miami
    Eastern Michigan
    Indiana State
    California
    South Dakota
    Louisville
    Youngstown State
    Portland State
    Montana State
    SDSU
    Eastern Was
    Citadel

    Appalachian State

  10. 50/50 chance those players dress but don’t play. Our coach and AD will be under the most intense security possible if they play. It’s just not worth putting your personal career integrity on the line for a handful of morons who will be gone in a year or two.

    • Coach Bohl and Gene Taylor both stated that they were going to let the kids have their day in court before handing out any punishment. The players have not had their day in court so they will not be punished today. I expect them all to play and I expect them all to play well.

I hope Colorado State tests Marcus Williams to see if his head is in the game…I’m ready for another pick 6.

    • Big Time: there’s appears nothing wrong with your memory; it’s just short……….UNI losing last week to No. 12 Wisconsin by 4 ? Oh, wait…….. this was just an aberration……. stop being such a putz !!

  11. There is no reason that any of the 8 should be suspended. Brandon should not have either. I hope Coach Bohl and Gene continue to wave their finger to all the haters. Let them run our program the way we want. After we win our 2nd straight nat’l title this year, everyone will forget about the last couple of months. Go Bison.

    • I would say the eight bad boys, collectively, played quite well, especially MW who arguably played one of his best games ever. So, along with Coach Bohl an AD Taylor, I’d say the eight waved their fingers to the haters also…….. in fact, I would like to add my finger to the entourage.
