Long day here in Fort Collins about to wrap up but wanted to get this online for everyone to digest when they wake up Sunday morning; this was a dominant performance tonight by NDSU in beating Colorado State 22-7.
Couple stats from tonight’s game, it’s the 6th win in 9 tries against FBS teams for Craig Bohl since 2006 (Ball State, Central Michigan, Minnesota twice, Kansas and CSU). One can argue that record should be 8-1, that the Bison had wins against Minnesota in 2006 and Wyoming in 2008. The other ridiculous stat, this is the 7th straight road win for NDSU, they haven’t lost away from Fargo since December of 2010, the FCS quarterfinals at Eastern Washington. Jeff, Eric Peterson and I with much more analysis here.
No suspensions – fans need to move on? WOW – just another “academic” institution willing to sacrifice its morales and reputation for the sake of sports. Well hey got what they dreamed of they now truly are in the same conversation as the big boys – Penn State, Ohio State, Miami. Spin all you want this is a terrible decision that reeks of athletic fifedom.
Fact is, these criminals have defrauded the voters of North Dakota and stole money from the agency they were hired to gain signatures for. The Athletic Director is an imbicile and so is the coach. Neither has the authority to tell the citizens of N.D. to simply forget about this. I cannot believe what an ignorant statement the A.D. left in the Forum today. NDSU is demonstrating they have absolutely no integrity and no… this is not over.
It is illegal in ND to pay someone to collect signatures on a petition. The companies are at fault.
It is tough watching the Bison win another national championship and looking good for a repeat isn’t it?
Hockey payer freezes feet. That’s over. Hockey coach fingers world. That’s over. Hockey players avoid arrests by fleeing bar. That’s over. Hockey players sell drugs. That’s over. Hockey players throw lawn mower and furniture in the street. That’s over. Indian themed parties. That’s over. what’s up bro? You mad or just hating?
Great recap. The health of players in this game is vital. Colton Heagle loss could be the biggest thing to this team. I know we have a great team and no one player makes a difference, but his safety position and decision making skills and how they have him play the position is amazing. I think this will show as the conference opens up. He is also a tough SOB, and maybe he can play with a cast on his entire leg like he did with his arm and thumb last year.
On the positive, this looks like a potential fun season again.
I think something is missing.
What exactly is missing here, Tim ? Let me answer that in lieu of reading your previous posts………your brain .
What was missing was the link to the postgame show you big internet tough guy.
NDSU totally dominated that team.it’s town. It’s bar scene. NDSU IS A FBS SCHOOL PERIOD END OF STORY.
NOW we just need some balls from NDSU admin lets do it !!!
Oh yes.Dominating the downtown bar scene is always a criteria for making a move to the FBS. OMG it never ends with this guy.
“Dominate the bar scene”?? Did you win at pool or darts or something? If you’re a medicore FBS team and an FCS team is coming to town, i don’t think the students go ape-poop about it and flood the local bars.
Here’s some more stats: in NDSU’s wins versus FBS teams, those FBS teams have a combined 20-42 record for those respective seasons. Only one, CMU had a winning record. For the 3 losses, the combined record was 21-17. Iowa State was the only team with a winning record that year and accounted for 11 of the 21 wins and only 2 of the 17 losses.
Remove the one game against an FBS team that played well and the FBS teams NDSU has played have a combined record of 30-57. Those stats don’t include CSU this year, who is picked to finish 8th in a watered-down MWC. Pretty impressive teams they’ve played.
More stats: The 9 criminals (oops, I meant victims) who played the game yesterday had these stats:
Ojuri – 58 yds rushing, 10 yds receiving, 2 TDS
Williams – 78 return yds, 1 INT
Pierre – 1 Ast tackle
Shepherd – 1 Tackle
Boyd – 1 tackle, -2 return yds
Rodgers – 1 ast tackle
3 players didn’t record any official stats. 2 TDs and a pick, plus 78 return yards on 3 returns seems pretty significant. Now we see why Bohl didn’t suspend the players… the game would have been a lot closer without them.
Always gonna be haters.
Always gonna be facts.
We went toe to toe with Idaho they won by less than 30. Cfm and I are proud of our guys.
What was the record of the mighty Sioux falls University team? What was the record of SD school of mimes? Where are the headlines for those games? I want to read about them! LOL. Hey cfm, you mad bro? You seem uptight. Relax bro.
You bring up a good point. Those players have made a significant impact for NDSU. I can’t help but feel that since these players where not penalized by NDSU, this season will be tarnished because of it. Even if we win it all, every other team in the league will say that NDSU won it with players that would have been suspended at any other school.
The leadership at NDSU cannot do nothing and then expect that people are just going to sit back, accept it, and not say anything more about it. The way this situation has been handled has been very polarizing even in the F-M area alone. I can’t imagine how fans of schools we beet (or will beet) must feel about the situation.
The way it was handled erodes the university’s public image and will tarnish what otherwise looks to be a promising 2012 football season.
Get over it. The players will have their day in court and this whole thing will probably go away since it is illegal to hire people to have petitions signed in the State of ND.
As the AD said last night they will not be suspended. We shouldn’t have to listen to people that aren’t fans of NDSU come on here wanting the players kicked off the team so their team can pick them up.
Suspended at any other school? I could name about 100 schools right now where it would’ve been the same way.
How does suspending them a game or two “un-tarnish” the season? Does that mean that the initiatives go back on the ballot? Does that mean we can all go back to thinking all college football players are angels? Don’t be naïve, this was Taylor’s and Bohl’s decision. If you don’t like it, stop coming to games or donating money (if you even do in the first place). If not, go whine to the judge about it. He’s the one representing you in this matter, not Gene Taylor or Craig Bohl.
I’ll assume you’re a fan of the team along the Canadian border.
Going into next week UND is 0-5 vs FBS opponents since 2009. Combined records of those teams in the year they played UND equates to 32-33. But the conference of these opponents also have not been as strong, WAC-2, MAC-1, MWC-1 and Big 12-1. Compared to NDSU, MAC-2, MWC-2, Big 10-3, Big 12-2.
You should go back and check your math as well, the 3 losses were to teams that had a combined record of 17-21 not 21-17, and Iowa State did not have 11 wins in 2009, they had 7.
Regardless, until your favorite team wins a game against an FBS opponent you have no argument.
They beat Tx Tech in the biggest moral victory upset of all time. What was the score in that one? What about the huge moral victory at northern ill, huh?. Didnt muz say the rogram swelled with pride. What was the score there? Those guys have gone toe-to-toe with the best teams in college football. They can’t possibly be jealous
I hate them too. How can a team get so lucky and beat big teams and we can barely beat Sioux falls.
If you think they are being treated special because they are NDSU football players you are going to be called a hater, troll, UND booster etc. The reality is it has been proven that this group intenionally forged signatures on official documents and took money for work they did not do. They changed the course of history in North Dakota by their actions – two measures will not be voted on in a state election. The NDSU administration is allowing these soon to be criminals to continue to receive scholarships (state money) and play football (represent the University and by extention the state). They have admitted their guilt. Plus now it comes out there are others on the team breaking the law at the same time this was ocurring. Isn’t this a state university – can’t someone in state goverment step in and do something?
Pot head.
“They changed the course of history in North Dakota by their actions”
If Common Man would let this in his Preposterous Statement Tournament if would destroy the bracket, even PA and Sid cannot compete with it.
And btw, football scholarships are paid for 100% by the NDSU Teammakers. So if you don’t like the way Taylor or Bohl handled it, stop donating to Teammakers.
Somehow I don’t think that will be a problem for you.
You are incorrect. The terms of their employment was illegal which made all of the signatures invalid. Regardless of how they were obtained.
Realitycheck
The terms of employment was illegal in the state of ND. That means all the signatures are now invalid regardless of how they were obtained.
This whole fiasco is a PR nightmare for the images of Bohl, Taylor, and NDSU. This will leave a scar that will never go away as long as the powers to be are still at NDSU. They will have to be very careful how they word things in the future when it comes to the consequences of actions their athletes take. They are going to be between a rock and a hard place. Right now they are basically a laughing stock. Good luck. You are going to need it.
The only thing that needs luck are the teams the Bison will face……… as far as you two, cfm and Ben, would suspensions for the next game satistfy you two? Probably not, but then you are, most likely, und “who” fans, so nobody remotely asociated with the Bison fan base give a rat’s A…. what you think………….Really, nobody gives a damn.
NDSU does not have lawyers like UND so they are screwed. Remember the snow bank incident last year? Thank god our hockey coach can tell the cops not to investigate or else we might have to use our awesome lawyers.
Really? Ever heard of Charley Stock? Do a ND records search some time of the most prominent NDSU n’erdowells and you’ll find a common denominator.
Hockey?
Bla ba bla smart guy.
Ben – I really hope you didn’t graduate from NDSU as you are a poor speller and your grammar isn’t good either. Beet? where or were? and cannot do nothing? Your post is embarrassing.
Violins wha wha… these guys got crucified like they killed or raped someone give it up hater nation.
you really have no clue at what life entails.
Life entails hockey right fan?
Now you’re calling yourself davek. Clever. Throw in a NDSU needs to be FBS and no one would ever suspect it.
Fan of the herd is a t.rd! LOL. Don’t get mad bro. At least coach Bohl didn’t give anybody the finger. Hakstol can’t win and believe it or not they never kicks criminals off the UND hockey team and he has had more chances than anybody.
Good stuff Dom, Eric and Jeff. I too am concerned about the depth at safety and LB. So Jeff, by your comments I take it that Antonio Rodgers isn’t really the back up MLB? Did he get snaps against RM? I don’t remember seeing him. The back up LBs need to get into the game against Prairie View to get some game experience.
And oh, did Juckem not make the trip to CSU? I didn’t see him on the field. Is he going to make the season?
I spoke with Juckem in class this morning. I didn’t see him out there either, to be honest. He played about 10 snaps though, including the safety play. He’s surviving, but he’s certainly in pain. Bohl is trying to get about 20 snaps per game out of him, and hopefully he can continue to heal and eventually do more. He is trying to avoid taking pre-game shots to prevent degradation of his knees even further.
Bohl has known about this for weeks. If he wanted to suspend them for a game, he could have done it for the Robert Morris game. Most of those players didn’t play in the 2nd half anyway. For people to claim they know everything abou the situation, NDSU policy, and the law in general are crazy. If they suspend these players for a game, would everyone just forgive them and let things go? Hell no!! People would still rip them. A suspension just for suspension sake means nothing. Seriously, I know you UND fans want to make this a huge scandal and a cover up conspiracy, but it is not even close to anything like that. I know you want to jump on every chance you can to bring down NDSU football because they have accomplished 100 times more in DI football then your team. I will take off my green and gold goggles and admit the players were wrong and that the punishment they get will fit the crime if you take off you bison hatred goggles and admit the same.
They have admitted their guilt an as stated the courts will have their day. Why does what they do off the field require suspension or dismissal??? If convicted of these charges, the legal system will punish them. This is the same as if you or I would have done this crime.
The haters seem to think that Taylor/Bohl are required to discipline them in some way. Truth is that they can do wha they choose.
If they believe that the court and media/public backlash is enough punishment….well then that’s enough
Jeepers. My thought is I’m glad nine NDSU football players didn’t get charged with marijuana possession or something worse. Forging names on a petition is really
ho-hum. And don’t worry, this didn’t change the course of history in North Dakota.
The people pushing marijuana for medical purposes and a conservation fund will be back again in a couple of years. And if they don’t get it two years from now, they’ll be back sometime after that. They’ll just keep pushing these two items until they get on the ballot or they’ll take it to the ND Legislature. They’ll get their favorite causes passed.
Just saw that Kolpack and Izzo tweeted that Craig Bohl has MORE inforamtion about the case that has to this point NOT been released. He said that some sort of punishment will occur for these players but it will not be suspensions.
Just goes to show that we should NOT get our undies in a bunch about these things — especially since we apparently do not have all of the available information.
It seems that there are those who instantly want to throw Taylor/Bohl under the bus for this…. It’s not as if they have any sort of track record for poor decision making or putting athletics (winning) in front of demanding good behavior from their athletes.
now al jeager sec of state und grad is suggesting asking the nd legislature to make it a felony to do petitoin fraud in future? is there that many people that hate ndsu out there, time for ndsu to become their own island and make it Fargo University and give a big F U to everyone of the haters in this state.
Even for you, what a stretch.
Its starting to look like the haters stink. That includes Joel “4-hr, no I dont need a Dr.” Heitkamp. Mike “i’m just as loud as 4-hr” McFeely is a stinker too.
Lets get Heidi on here, ok? KFGO loves the Heitkamps. Just about a PAC in my opinion. Thats voter fraud too, isnt it?
