Polling

My weekly Sports Network FCS top 25 ballot, available to rip, and in most cases legitimately trashed, at your pleasure.  First 15 or so went relatively smooth, but really struggled with the last five. NDSU is back in the top spot after Eastern Washington lost at Southern Utah on the basis of its loss was to in my opinion a top 10 team in Indiana State and a FBS win that Montana State and Georgia Southern do not have. These FBS wins have to also be taken under the context that there are some bad football teams out there this year, so it will be interesting to see how much stock the FCS playoff committee puts on them. Bad or not, it’s still an element that can separate teams.

  1. North Dakota State (7-1)
  2. Montana State (7-1)
  3. Georgia Southern (7-1)
  4. Sam Houston State (6-2)
  5. Wofford (7-1)

  1. Stony Brook might be a little low. From what I’ve seen in the two games I’ve watched them play they are a legit top 10 team.

  2. I wouldn’t be surprised if GSU was #1 in one poll and NDSU was #1 in another. If the brackets were made today, we would be a 1 or 2 seed with home field throughout so we can control our own destiny and just win.

    • Would we be though? I know we could be ranked #1 or #2 but if Indiana State doesn’t lose wouldn’t they get the MVFC autobid and how would that work?

  3. Interesting note:
The Sagarin rankings, which factor more similar to GPI or BCS rankings, has some interesting placement. Of FCS schools, NDSU is highest ranked in the top 50 teams overall in the country FCS and FBS. Indiana State is 2nd as far as FCS and the MVFC has five teams in the top 100 teams in the country. Southern Illinois, Northern Iowa and South Dakota State all are in the top 100. I would say that shows we have a tough conference. I agree with Jeff in that, we win out and we host throughout. Take care of business boys and let’s get back to Texas.

  4. I am pretty sure NDSU will not jump over GSU this week after they both won. If anyone leap frogs over anyone in the poll it will be Montana State or Lehigh moving ahead of NDSU.
