Well all it took was a concession speech from me to actually make things interesting! My best week of the year after I see Jeff proudly display his half of the Nickel Trophy and now I’m only down 8 games heading into the final week of the FCS regular season. There are some terrific games this weekend, this is the most amount of games we’ll pick; keep your eye on the SoCon teams they’re playing the SEC this weekend, so Georgia Southern and Wofford have tall tasks. We have a huge day of NDSU coverage planned from Normal tomorrow, the pregame show and live blog launch around 11 am, we’ll then have you covered with our bracketology video blog after the game, Jeff and I will try to pick the entire 20 team which admittedly will be the hardest to do since we started doing this in 2010. Have a great football weekend!

Gotta go Montana over MSU. Not because Montana is good but MSU is overrated.
I could see Montana pulling this one out.
MSU has not beaten any top rated teams this year. I agree, they are over-rated.
i think Montana State has a good chance of winning it all this year. they are clearly one of the best teams in FCS.
Good One! The last official use of the nickel!
The nickel for NDSU Bison sports coverage
The National championship for The Bison
The focus of The Dakotas is Dakota college Football and the Dakota Big Three.
Its a hat trick for the Big 3!
Im picking two games: SDSU over USD & NDSU over ISUr.
Picking the 20 will be a lot easier Sat. night than it is Friday morning! What a field of great teams.
USD over SDSU Dom? You must be feeling lucky…
The game in College Station this weekend will really show the difference in football between the FBS ane FCS. Texas A & M the #9 ranked FBS team against Sam Houston State the #3 FCS program. This is a great game to compare apples to apples instead of comparing Colorado State or Minnesota as the standard of FBS victories.
Northern Colorado beats the Swallows in Greeley.
Swallows?????????
UND Swallows
new nickname?
That’s what I call them.
UND Oilers????
New Hampshire
Lehigh
South Carolina
Georgia
Indiana State
UND
Southern Illinois
SDSU-31 USD-3 Jacks defense dominates! SDSU in the playoffs.
Villanova
Montana State
Texas A&M
Eastern Washington
Northern Iowa 34-13
Central Arkansas
Cal-Poly
Old Dominion
NDSU-19 Illinois State-9 I think it will be lower scoring than I originally thought. Bison land number #1 seed through the playoffs! Go Bison!
Jeff and Dom, I feel that the Bison will play SDSU in the second or third round to save the NCAA some money on travel. I hate to see two good MVFC teams have to play right away but I could see it happen what do you guys think?
Rube credit, nice call!
No!!!! i hope not
what about Slippery Rock against Stony Brook ???
■(16) Towson at (7) New Hampshire- New Hampshire
■(12) Lehigh at Lafayette- Lehigh
■(9) Wofford at South Carolina- South Carolina
■(6) Georgia Southern at Georgia- Georgia
■(19) Indiana State at Youngstown St- Indiana St. Syacamores need win for chance at playoffs.
■North Dakota at Northern Colorado- Northern Colorado. Not convinced the flashy pass game of UND can win this time of year outside in Big Sky country. Bears are on a roll they haven’t been on in quite awhile.
■Western Illinois at Southern Illinois- Southern Illinois
■South Dakota at (23) SDSU- SDSU. Yotes first season in Valley will be winless. Not quite the Great West.
■(21) Villanova at Delaware- Villanova
■(2) Montana State at Montana- Montana St. Griz have problems all over the place.
■(3) Sam Houston at Texas A&M- Let’s see, A&M just beat Alabama, I’m taking… A&M.
■(5) Eastern Washington at Portland St.- Eastern Washington
■Missouri State at Northern Iowa- Northern Iowa
■(25) Eastern Illinois at (10) Cent. Ark- Central Ark.
■(18) Cal Poly at (15) Northern Ariz- Cal Poly. Again, no faith in Northern Ariz.
FCS Game of the Week
■(4) Old Dominion at (14) James Madison- Old Dominion
NDSU at Illinois St.- NDSU, but something tells me this will be tough. Don’t like Redbirds having bye week last weekend, but I like only 7,700 people can attend game, figuring a nice portion of that will be Bison faithful. No secret to success, the Bison offense cannot turn the ball over, esp for touchdowns, and can’t give up a special teams touchdown. If we force the Redbird offense to do all the scoring, I like our chances. Let’s seal the #1 seed and get the playoffs started. I cannot wait to see how the playoff field turns out.

Funny article about The Gophers and Big Ten Hockey today. They aren’t scheduling UND. Gophers coach says they are no longer in the same conference, the rivalry gets heated and over the top sometimes and they may schedule them again if it makes sense.
UND coach says its a great rivalry, the fans want it and it should be played every year.
Sound familiar to anybody? LOL
There’s something to be said for loyalty, cooperation and competition. The Dakota Big Three Universities have that and have had it for 100 yrs or so.
i read that, too. i don’t know why the Gophs are afraid of good competition. the Big Ten Hockey conference will be a laughingstock of college hockey..with two or three quality teams, and the rest will be garbage. Big Ten football will get tired of subsidizing Big Ten Hockey in a couple of years.
I think the Mn coach is saying its not good competition. I think its showing a trend in these great heated rivalries UND seems to charish so. They quit one, are being scheduled out of another and have lost any kind of focus from the college sports fans in the Dakotas. Theres a reason you end up on the back burner.

If the MVFC only has 2 or 3 teams in the playoffs, I find it hard to believe that the selection committe would square off SDSU and NDSU early. Since when does money factor into anything regarding Division I football? New Hampshire vs Montana St in Bozeman first round last year is a case in point. However, it is quite possible that SDSU and NDSU could meet again, say, semi-finals.
umm….i was under the impression money is the MAIN thing factoring into FCS football playoffs! hence the bidding process for hosting games….so i for one would not be surprised if ndsu/sdsu get in the same bracket.
When will the selection committee announce the pairings?
