Zach Ziemer

As the FCS Playoffs kicked off this afternoon, NDSU recruiting will also head into high gear shortly, trouble is the Bison don’t have many scholarships to play with this season, and they already have 7 locked in. But today’s verbal is a big get
for NDSU, in 6’5, 280 pound offensive tackle Zach Ziemer (pronounced Zeemer) from Lakeville North in the Twin Cities. Ziemer had offers from all 4 of the Dakota Schools, both Montana schools and the biggest came from Miami of Ohio. According to Brian Vossen, head coach at Lakeville North told me it was between the Bison and Miami of Ohio, and NDSU won out because the chance to play and the chance to win. Ziemer is a multi-sport athlete who plays lacrosse and according to Vossen is very athletic for a big man and has gigantic feet. Vossen told me that Ziemer is very similar to Zach Johnson, the true freshman for NDSU out of Eastview who has played some spot duty, including a start at South Dakota earlier this year. This is Lakeville North’s 1st Division 1 recruit after their split, the Panthers lost in the 6A title game last night to Eden Prairie, Ziemer is the 2nd giant of this recruiting class, joining with Sioux Falls product Austin Kuhnert, here’s Ziemer’s recruiting video.

  1. If this is true, this is a huge get. NDSU has a weak OL this year, largely due to injuries, but they need to get stronger for the 2014 season. My guess is the two large ND OTs recruited last year and the two Zachs from MN will be the anchors of that new line.

  2. I see that Ziemer plays lacrosse, fastest gwowing sport in US. NDSU has pretty good club lacrosse team, when is it going to be covered by forum.

  3. why would club lacrosse get covered by the forum? they don’t cover club hockey or any other club sports.

  4. My guess is that NDSU will give out more partial scholarships and perhaps some grey shirts this year to fill out the 2013 class. I think we are also seeing more Preferred Walk-ons commit earlier than ever before.

  5. Solid recruit over miami ohio. Gopher fans were hoping hed walk on. Great decision by yet another twin cities recruit. NDSU marketing should focus on twin cities more their football fans would jump on NDSU bandwagon if they were exposed more to it. Boise state of minnesota= NDSU

    • No one will “jump on NDSU['s] bandwangon” from the Twin Cities who aren’t from ND or NDSU alumni. Most in the Twin Cities can’t even tell you the difference between NDSU and UND.
Gophers stink…but Minnesot fans are still Minnesota fans.

  6. Hey. Old Guy. You say Bison have a weak OL. Just what team are you watching to make such a revelation. Time for the optometrist for you. At least you admit your weakness. Wish the Bison could have played Stony Brook or Slippery Rock. Perhaps next years. SQWASCH those Rabbits.

  7. Let us not forget the JackRabbits played dirty and hurt our LevonPerry. Now they are laughing thinking we are weak and depleted.
