Nick Jacobsen

Nick Jacobsen, Prescott (WI) H.S.

The Bison have had great success in the state of Wisconsin over the past few years (Jensen, Heagle, Hagen, Juckem) and have already landed their 4th out of the Badger State for the class of 2013 in 6’4, 280 pound defensive tackle Nick Jacobsen from Prescott. If that town sounds familiar it should, that’s where Nick Schommer hails from, the former Bison standout who was drafted in the 7th round by the Titans a few years ago. Jacobsen’s coach Matt Smith told that he’s been a dominant player for his team since he became a starter in his sophomore year, Jacobsen was an all-state
selection on both offense and defense this past season. He also becomes the 2nd Bison player in my recollection to chose NDSU over a BCS over, Justin Juckem was the first since Jacobsen had an offer from Pittsburgh. Smith told me that Pitt was too far away from home, he wanted to be able to drive home and have his parents drive to watch him play. UND was the other offer Smith knew of. Jacobsen was here over
the summer and NDSU offered shortly thereafter, Smith told me head coach Craig Bohl made a trip to Prescott to see Jacobsen play late in the season and that sealed the deal. Jacobsen now joins Grant Morgan, Brad Ambrosius and Alex Hahn as 2013 recruits from Wisconsin, Jacobsen becomes the 11th verbal commitment for the class of 2013.

  1. Nick is rated a 3-star recruit by Rivals.

With all these Wisconsin kids on the team it would be great to play the Badgers sometime.

  2. Wow! The Hits just keep on coming!! Anyone know how many scholarships are left? With 7 graduating seniors gone, the Dinwiddies gone plus Jacob Davis, the coaching staff have to start counting beans.

  3. Coach is doing a good job recruiting while preparing for and winning playoff games. Great job Bison!

  4. There will be no drop off on the D-Line when Perry and Drevlow graduate. Brett Pierce, Austin Farnlof, and Jacobsen are going to be absolute BEASTS. If Chuks Amaechi becomes the edge speed rusher everyone thinks he can become….. I feel sorry for opposing offensive lines.

    • Those could be great starters, but the strength of the DL the last two years has been the depth and the rotation so they don’t get fatigued. Lots of other players, such as Horvath, Norman, and Lisenby have left from the 2011 class. So, the coaches are back filling and the guys you list will be very young, So and RFr, it will be very tough to replace the experience of Perry, Drevlow and Jirik with these guys.

      • Hopefully some of these guys are talented enough to play right away. This junior class was talented enough.

  5. Yo, Bison2928, don’t be such a Johnny Rain Cloud. The execution of the offense/plays, at times, has been less than stellar; to this we can all agree. Players have to make plays, if they don’t , the onus doesn’t fall completely on the coaches.
