On the eve of one of the biggest games in Bison football history, I thought it was interesting to note that NDSU has history with the other 3 semifinalists in a rather large way, and it happened in a short time, which makes it even more impressive.
Georgia Southern – This one speaks for itself obviously with last year’s game in Fargo and with the result sending a message to the rest of FCS that NDSU is for real and here to stay. Overlooked though was the first game the two teams played in 2006, when the Bison dominated GSU in Statesboro as well, part of another 10-1 season then.
Sam Houston State - The national championship game will stand out for everyone for a long time especially with NDSU’s defensive performance in that game, but the previous two games between the two teams were also hearstoppers, the 2007 game here in Fargo may have been the most exciting game in Dome history and the 2009 game in Hunstville could be described as one of the worst defensive performances in Bison history, it’s been a long time since anyone came close to 600 total yards against NDSU like the Bearkats did that day.
Eastern Washington - I’ve seen 6 years of Bison football and next to the 2007 SHSU game, the Eastern game was by far the most exciting game I’ve seen. Add to it it was a playoff game with a Bison team that barely snuck into the playoffs, had already won 2 games and it seemed like it was playing its best football of the season. The game had everything you could want, blocked field goals, 2 kickoff returns for touchdowns, a pick 6, a comeback, snow and a controversial ending. To go on top of it the game was played on a red football field. I have a sneaking suspicioun that if the Bison win tomorrow night that the fans would like to see Eastern Washington in Frisco.
If there’s another common theme among these four teams, it’s stability and great recruiting. These teams are built for the long haul and are set up to be making repeat trips to the final four and championship games for the next few years.

I’d love to see Eastern Washington again, this time on NDSU’s home away from home field in Frisco.
We want revenge with E. Washington but GA SO and Sam Houston want revenge with us. Tomorrow will be a tough game but I’m hoping we can have another Youngstown State type of game.
SAM is too good to lose to EW. I have felt all along that the title game would be a rematch of last year.
I’m hoping for revenge against EWU. I hope we never let a running back run all over us the way he did that day. And I hope we never go prevent defense like we did on their last drive in regulation.
AMEN! DePereBisonFan
I’ll take a rematch with Sam Houston State.
It would be nice to play Eastern Washington because they only sent three thousand fans to the title game two years ago. However, I think Sam Houston State will beat them.
Tickets are sold out anyway for the Championship game. Whoever gets in only gets their allotment.
But, there are tickets allocated to locals, companies, sponsors, etc that get moved to fans. Not to mention ticket outlets, scalpers, etc. If a fan of any team wants a ticket, they can find one for sale.
1000 tickets for the game currently available on stub hub
We bought ours 30 minutes before kickoff last year. Just remember, nothing is ever sold out, sometimes they just cost more than we can afford or are willing to pay.
Crimony, just thinking about that bloody ugly field turf in Cheney, Washington, gives me headaches. Hope Sammy State packed their long underwear.
NDSU-13 Georgia Southern-10 Go Bison!
So far they have made very accurate prediction
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1444616-fcs-semifinalsgeorgia-southern-ready-for-rematch-with-north-dakota-state
The headline on the article says Southern Conference football. Not surprising that they pick GSU as the winner.
Last week Bleacher’s Report picked Bison over Wofford. They even predicted the score, 14-10 and we won…..14-7
If Ga. Southern scores in the upper 20′s or into the 30′s I think the Bison will have a hard time winning. We win with defense and a QB who is throwing for 100 to 150 yards a game. Bison defense has to keep it low scoring and Ojuri and Crockett have to have big games on the ground to keep the ball away from the GS offense. I still say Bison win 13-10. Go Bison!
Our Bison team is coming off of a Finals week. Grant Olson is an Engineering major, it would have been very intense with all the finals and sleepless nights. Defense as it is , has been carrying the team on its shoulder all season. They are just human, they are bound to have an off game some time, they are awfully tired and banged up dealing with that Walter Payton award winning RB from Wofford last week so we should not expect too much from them this week.
Offense should realize this and this is the time to show their true potential. Or else we risk becoming one dimensional like Wofford. Wofford relied to much on their running back and we look just like them relying too much on our defense.
Was Georgia Southern the ‘marketing genious’ that thought of these yellow towels? Bison Fans are supposed to wave them when the Bison are on defense. Clapping makes more noise that towels do! GET LOUD TONIGHT BISON FANS!
GO BISON!
Well, they named a sewer , the great beautiful eagle creek.
Will there be a pick blog today?
I have the Bison winning this on 24-14
Brock will have a better day passing today.
Would like nothing more than to crush Eastern Wash in the national title game as payback for 2010.
