Earlier in the countdown we highlighted one of the defensive standouts on the Bison roster from Nebraska in Christian Dudzik; today we do it again this time with defensive end Kyle Emanuel, who has become a force on the d-line in two short years and become one of the nation’s best in all of FCS.
Countdown To 2013: NerdStat #53:
- 53: Just that short video clip is enough to show you how good of a season Emanuel had last year; starting 11 games; racking up 49 tackles, 12 of them for loss to go along with 5 sacks. Emanuel became a terrific pass rusher and disruptor on the defense; the South Dakota game alone; which was a great day for the Bison defense; he blew thru the USD offensive line time after time. Emanuel along with Cole Jirik; form the ends of the best defensive line in the country and after redshirting in 2010; he exploded in 2011 to make some plays that I remember remarking to Jeff about to watch out for. Craig Bohl has told me a couple of times about how good Emanuel is and can be and for a kid who always dreamed of playing for the Huskers and had a good chance of walking on to Nebraska; he has now become one of the standouts of a terrific team. Emanuel is set to really break out in 2013 with the entire defensive line returning from a terrific 2012 season.
