We’ve hit the new year, but that doesn’t mean the Sunday Night Ramblings are done from the Izzo bunker, tonight more info on Taylor Braun’s injury and a look ahead to NDSU’s week on the road that includes a showdown with the other team that’s tied for 1st, Western Illinois; the Leathernecks have had a great start to the year. Also have more info on the 3 verbals that NDSU locked up today, including one from Florida, which to my knowledge is one of the first recruits out of that state in a long time. Bison now up to 15 verbals for the class of 2013. One note on Connor Wentz, the tight end out of Florida, he’s the cousin of backup quarterback Carson. More recruiting and hoops news later this week!

  2. Thanks Dom. How big of a deal is the injury to Taylor Braun? Braun is one of the best players on the team and can always be counted on to score when the team needs a score. Do you have any idea who joins the starting lineup in his place? Mike Felt, Brett VandenBergh, Chris Kading? I’m assuming it will be divided up between Chris Kading and Brett VandenBergh with Jordan Aaberg becoming the main backup to Marshall Bjorkland.

    It sounds like the coaches are having another good recruiting year. Losing Tim Polasek hurts but Coach Bohl has done a great job replacing coaches that move up. I’m anticipating the same with this vacancy. Do you think he brings someone in from a different school or promotes from within?

  3. Timmy polosak bleeds bison green, the money was much more at NIU and they went to orange bowl, its gonna hurt losing him.
    The braun loss hurts bigtime, 15-3 and now your changing lineups. But Marshall B deserves to put this team on his shoulders, kid is legit top 20 center in all of ncaa basketball and #1 in shooting %. Saul needs to get him 15-20 shots a game not 6, 7, 8 !

  6. Yo, Dom, actually it hasn’t been that long ago (last year) since the Bison recruited a football player from Florida. Grant Maris is from Florida and a redshirt freshman. Did you not count him because he was a walk-on?

  7. Yes !!! They let my comments go. NDSU basketball arena needs to be done its ridiculous that 15, 000 can goto texas but teammakers can’t get that last $2 million. Are you serious? Why can’t ndsu development write the check or fargodome they have money!

    If each of those 15,000 would have donated $133.33, we would be at 2 mill. And the BSA will benefit football too. Need a grass roots effort to get this done.

  9. The BSA is no longer serviceable, and I am no fan of spending tax dollars on Taj Mahals. I will not buy season tickets for basketball for that main reason alone. I told a buddy at the game on Saturday, that I had a better sound system in my dorm room in the 80′s. Even when we played pick up games at noon in the BSA, no one wanted to be skins, because you would get sick from sweating and freezing at the same time. It is a facility that is way past it’s prime and I have given money towards it, but am not a fat cat by any means. Instead of a 50/50 raffle, it should be a please donate to the new facility campaign at the door. If the men make the dance this year and it still does not encourage funding for the new facility, then my overall belief of basketball as a whole, dying a slow death is the case.

  12. I’m worried now that Chip Kelly is gone to Philly that Oregon may target Bohl. That would be a job he’d think about leaving NDSU for. We have a great thing going and even we have more talent than Oregon, they could pay better.
