Thanks for everyone staying up late and checking in here on the Ramblings; NDSU will play in the postseason for a 2nd straight year and 3rd time in it’s Division 1 history; heading back to the CBI and will face Western Michigan on Wednesday in Kalamazoo. There was an outside shot of NDSU playing in the NIT; but were not selected; head coach Saul Phillips told me tonight he was not surprised but the Bison being passed over; that the Summit League has “never been done any favors by the NIT.” Phillips added that if the Bison can advance on Wednesday there’s a chance of another home game in the next round. No thoughts on Creighton leaving the MVC? I heard somewhere that Belmont was being considered over NDSU in joining.
MVC has got to be looking at NDSU. This CBI tournament is a great chance to solidify our spot.
Playing Western Michigan is another shot at a MAC school and see how we stack up against them.
I have been hard on the Bison BBall teams and basketball as a whole and think basketball as a whole is slowly losing fans. I do however think this year there is a crazy amount of parody in Division 1 basketball. The ACC, The Big 10 and Big East beat up on each other all season. NDSU on any given night could play just about any team in the country and keep single digit leads or trail by single digits all night. (If they play not to lose) That is what was so frustrating to watch this year. The games they lost with or without Braun, they were standing around and many times looking like they wanted someone else to take a shot or handle the ball. They let SDSU push them around in the Summit championship game. Hopefully they know they are a very good team, now just go out and play that way. The game has changed to a very physical, push and clutch and grab and travel game, so go out and do that. Standing around and not attacking takes your outside shooting away as well. Win the CBI and you will at least have this fan back on your bandwagon, the bandwagon with low tire pressure.
The MVC is not look at NDSU or SDSU. The issue with our schools is geography. The reality is that MANY of the schools in that conference have a very limited athletic budget. Travelling to NDSU/SDSU would likely mean that they would run out of money. The funny thing about the MVC is while they are good at basketball, they dump most of their money into that sport leaving the scraps for all others. While that isn’t necessarily a bad thing it just goes to show that from a funding perspective most of those schools are not in any better situation than we are. If we had a bus league we could affort do increase our basketball budgets significantly.
Mvc budgets are much bigger than the Summit. Travel is a non issue. Big time programs with big time budgets.

If the Bison win the first game they should bid the 2nd round game and put it in the Fargodome. I think people would be surprised at how many fans would show up for a Bison playoff game in this tourney! Go Bison!

How about earn your way to the NIT. SDSU out played NDSU except for Braun. By his own determination he kept us in the game.
Time for NDSU to win a game or two against a top 25 team. It’s been a while.

NIT: Not Invited to the Tournament. CBI: Can’t Be In (the tournament) CIT: Crap, we’re not IN the Tournament. Does it really matter anymore? when does spring football start?

College basketball doesn’t do it for me. March madness is fun and if NDSU makes it once every 5-10 years, I’ll take particular interest.
But football holds the banner for NDSU and represents the school and the state. Not basketball.
Where’s the news storys on the new shac every single day lets have one and get this thing finalized once and for all. Its ridiculous not to have it done. Ndsu needs a run in the cbi. They got screwed by nit and the cit is a complete joke with zero bcs schools
