NDSU completed its tenth practice of the spring and the injuries are starting to mount. Chris Klieman described to me yesterday after several nicks and bruises to different players and isn’t sure how many players will be available for the spring game on April 23rd. Here are some updates on different players and you can watch a brief interview underneath.
- Senior running back Chase Morlock is ahead of schedule, he’s been back out practicing without the sling on his shoulder, Morlock is not allowed to have contact, but it appears he should be good to go for the start of fall camp in August.
- Wide receiver depth continues to be an issue. Redshirt freshman Marquise Bridges has been out with an injury and missing some badly needed reps as NDSU looks for a player to step up at that position. More indications come in that true freshman Sean Engel will get every opportunity to win a job in August.
- The opposite corner from Jalen Allison continues to be a question mark. Redshirt freshman Dom Davis has been shelved with an injury as well, Klieman told me yesterday no one has stepped up to grab the spot, meaning the battle for that position will go into the fall. It’s definitely one that bears watching for the remainder of the spring and into the early part of the fall.
- Dan Marlette has a had solid spring at linebacker and the team is hopeful he can provide some needed depth at that spot.
