The LPGA Tour debut of Amy Anderson

Amy Anderson at LPGA Q School tournament

The Media Blog needs to cover the LPGA debut for Amy Anderson, in my opinion. The NDSU graduate will make her tour debut this week at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic at the Ocean Club golf course in Paradise Island, Bahamas.

She earned her tour card in her first try at the LPGA Qualifying School with the third and final stage in December. The 108-player field for the Pure Silk tournament includes 11 major championship winners with the $1.3 million purse having a winner’s share of $195,000. The Golf Channel will show 10 hours of live coverage starting Thursday and Friday from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 p.m.

Paradise Island is located almost 200 miles southeast of Miami. Guessing the weather is a bit better there than at her home course of Oxbow Country Club this week.

  1. A golfer who has played her whole career in North Dakota now playing on the LPGA tour is simply amazing if one stops to think about it. Golf is a worldwide sport. I would argue this is a more significant accomplishment than playing in the NFL, NHL or Olympics.

    Congrats to her.

      • He went to college at Arizona State. Big difference in my opinion. However, as has been written multiple times by Jeff, this has maybe helped her over the years.

        • uh…..wouldn’t qualifying to golf in the Olympics, be a better comparison? It’s a great accomplishment to get an LPGA card. But let’s keep the moronic comparisons to a minimum.

          • @bisonbill; I wasn’t talking about Morley. I was talking about the comparison Ted made, of comparing getting a tour card to being one of the absolute best in the game and representing your country….aka an Olympian.

  2. Where has that big gopher fan that is sometimes on here been?? I wonder if that clown was impressed by the great showing vs Syracuse in the “who gives a sh*t bowl” So far behind the Bison in FB, almost comical. Best of luck Amy, Bison Nation is proud of ya!!

    • Don’t be that guy. This is a blog about Amy Anderson. You want to compare units? Start your own blog.
