A Grizzly letter

A Grizzly letter

From The Blogster’s mailbag … a letter from a Missoula resident …

I keep track of as much of Division 1-AA football in the country as I can. In doing so I have been watching what the North Dakota State Bison have been doing this year. This team is by far the best team in Div. 1-AA, I am glad they can not play in this years playoffs. If the Bison were allowed to play I feel they would walk right through the playoffs and that includes my beloved Montana Grizzlies. I know the Grizzlies are very good this year and may just win a national championship, but the Bison are so superior in my opinion that if they were allowed to play in the playoff it wouldn’t matter where they play at home or on the road they are a complete team that doesn’t seem to be intimidated by who they play, or where they play such as Georgia Southern, Minnesota, Ball State,  Stephen F. Austin, Mississippi Valley State. All quality wins for a 1-AA team

I can remember when the Bison came to Missoula in 2003 and were down 24-3 at half time and I was very nervous about that game, why would you bring in a team like the Bison that could beat you and embarrass you. Well that is what happened and the Bison won 25-24. I have had great respect for the bison since then and I hope very soon that they make the trip to Div. 1-A and leave Div. 1-AA because in is very much apparent that they belong at the highest level of College football Div. 1-A
I also think the Big Sky Conference was wrong in not picking North Dakota State University to be in the Sky they would have added so much strength and integrity to the Big Sky Maybe they will offer the Bison a spot in the Big Sky but they really don’t belong in Div. 1-AA at all the Bison are a level above Div. 1-AA already.
