DeLuca Following the Rep 1 Sports Blueprint

DeLuca Following the Rep 1 Sports Blueprint

There’s been a lot of NDSU football positivity from the NFL career of Carson Wentz. He’s only two years into it and already it seems like a decade worth of material for his alma mater. I’m not much for retiring numbers, especially at the college level, so perhaps NDSU should start some sort of ring of honor of its own in the Fargodome. Hang the jerseys and numbers of its greatest players somewhere in the big brick building.

The latest to see the benefit of Carson is linebacker Nick DeLuca, who signed with Rep 1 Sports in Irvine, Calif., and is training at the company’s facilities on the West Coast. Wentz signed with cousins Ryan and Bruce Tollner immediately after the 2015 FCS title game and the plan was on that made him the No. 2 overall draft pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. The Tollners have that big-time feel to them, from the way they speak to the way they handle the entire process with poise. Nothing seemed to surprise Wentz through the entire process.

DeLuca may have signed with Rep 1 without Carson’s presence last year, but the fact he has a blueprint to follow can do nothing but help him. Rep 1 has Wentz and Goff, the top two picks in 2016 and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, the No. 2 overall last spring. DeLuca isn’t in that conversation, but it never hurts to have a proven agency behind your NFL quest. He’ll leave Irvine after this weekend and head to the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., for practice next week and the game on Jan. 27. It’s the same all-star game Wentz played in with the biggest benefit that it’s coached by NFL personnel. The staffs from the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos are coaching this year’s teams.

Granted, Rep 1 is reaping publically from the high-profile quarterbacks, but it has plenty of other players in its folder. And perhaps most important to DeLuca; the agency isn’t wrapped up in FBS or FCS. Rep 1 also represents former Eastern Washington receiver Cooper Kupp.
