63. That’s the number that came to mind today at the Fargodome during NDSU’s annual Green vs. Gold intrasquad spring game. That’s the maximum allowable scholarships in the Football Championship Subdivision and for the first time, NDSU had the look of depth.
It was the first time this spring game has been fought to the final second. In past years, the coaches used running time because of a lack of players. After two or three quarters, it was like, just get this over with.
NDSU had over 70 players for spring ball and many of those are quality players.
"I think it’s a compliment to the coaches and the recruiting job they’ve done," said quarterback Steve Walker.
Walker, by the way, was fantastic (more on individual players later).
