Kolpack & Izzo Podcast Episode 3 Revisited

Denver TenBroek, who will be inducted into the Bison Athletic Hall of Fame on Sept. 21, was a nice men’s basketball recruit for NDSU. When he enrolled at the university from small-town McIntosh, S.D., — TenBroek actually lived on a ranch just across the border in North Dakota — his class was promised that before they finished their careers, they would be playing in a new arena. TenBroek’s freshman year was in 1999. The Sanford Health Athletic Complex opened in 2016. When NDSU redshirt freshman linebacker Jackson Hankey was being recruited, he was a better baseball prospect than most of us thought. His high school football coach, Robert Goll, told us that Henke went to an Under Armour baseball showcase in an Atlanta suburb and had the top bat swing speed in the camp that included kids from Florida, California and Texas.

“I remember going online, No. 1 in bat speed,” Goll said. “I think Jackson could have played two sports in Division I. He had some offers in baseball, and I was little worried he would go the baseball route. He can hit the baseball a ton. He was really good hockey player as well. The ceiling is unlimited for that kid.”

Those are just a couple of things we learned in our Kolpack & Izzo podcast this week.
