So there are questions that Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Steve Loney is having trouble handling the dual role of calling plays and being the offensive line coach. It’s a load, not doubt, and we’ll see how it plays out.
The same can’t be said at NDSU, where Pat Perles is doing the same two jobs. He is the third Bison offensive coordinator in three years and after two games, he’s getting some good reviews.
The dinner table consensus after the Northwestern game is Perles has a better feel for the game than Tim Albin, last year’s o-coordinator who went with Jimmy Burrow to Ohio University. The two play-action passes that went to tight end A.J. Cooper for touchdowns against Northwestern were brilliant calls. There is a sense of unpredictability to Perles’ game plans.
We got that the first year with Dan Enos as offensive coordinator. It may have been missing last year.
