These college kids finish their college football careers and the good ones go right to work in an effort to land an NFL job. They go through all the tests, workouts and paperwork to try and get noticed.
They also have agents. These are the gents that represent the player to get them the best possible deal out there. They are talkers — and I have to wonder what they say to the players.
Bison noseguard Rodney Thompson was told by his agent that he could possibly be a late round draft pick. Rodney, as we all would, was cranked up for the draft hoping to hear his name. Turns out he didn’t even get a free agent contract, although he did get a tryout later this week with the Buccaneers.
So we have to ask: Did the agent get bad info from teams on Rodney? Did the agent take a few liberties with the English language and throw some superlatives at Rodney? Is this just a down-and-dirty business?
The victim in all of this hype is Rodney. Here’s hoping he turns some heads in Tampa.
