System absorbs defections

Dillon Forbes was a highly-recruiting linebacker who was considered one of the best coming out of Wisconsin last year. NDSU beat a few FCS schools like Northern Iowa on him. He’s the type of kid that makes for a good signing day grade report.

But Forbes didn’t qualify academically and word is he may be looking at the University of South Dakota. Division II standards are a tad lower than Division I. (Note to USD, enjoy it this season while you can).

Anyway, losses like this can be absorbed with consistently good recruiting every year. With the Bohl system, losing Forbes isn’t as big of a deal now than if it happened two or three years ago.
