The 10 reasons for a college football dynasty

The 10 reasons for a college football dynasty

An excerpt from the last chapter of my brook project, tentatively titled “Horns Up” with some sort of subtitle, a chapter devoted more to explanation than information. Let me know if this jives with any of you, or what I’m missing. NOTE. I amended No. 8 to include Team Makers to further emphasize the fundraising.

Certainly, there is no one simple explanation, but after sifting through just over a year of research for this project combined with 20-plus years of covering the team, I came up with 10 reasons in no particular order of importance, with all 10 that could probably be divided into subsets. If any of these 10 were compromised, I don’t believe five in a row would have been a reality.

  1. Culture.
  2. Recruiting.
  3. Geography.
  4. Tradition.
  5. Physicality.
  6. Coaching.
  7. Jim Kramer.
  8. Institutional leadership/ Team Makers
  9. Fargodome.
  10. Media-mania.

They are 10 factors that when taken into a singular context is not only a hard combination to master but extremely rare.
