The Dutch Destroyer Sauce

The Dutch Destroyer Sauce

Rebecca Burmeff is flying back to Fargo, only this time it’s more about chicken wings than football. The mother of Lukas Kusters, the 10-year-old boy who befriended Carson Wentz before passing away of cancer, will be on hand for the second annual “FM Wing Challenge” Friday from 3-8 p.m. at Southwest Arena. Specifically, Maui Sauce is promoting its new creation — “Dutch Destroyer sauce” — in honor of Lukas’ now famous nickname. All proceeds from sales will go directly to Live Like Lukas Inc., the non-profit created by his parents to help kids going through similar health battles.

The sauce is advertised as “somewhat spicy with a smoky taste” and best served with wings, steak, pork, chicken or seafood. Sounds delicious.

The family first came to Fargo in November for the NDSU and University of South Dakota game, an arrangement made possible by a local group of boosters. Gate City Bank purchased 9,000 “Dutch Destroyer” bracelets, or as many as the company could get at the time, and gave them away at the game.
