Overheard a couple of people today wondering why Carson Wentz would tweet that he got locked in a gas station bathroom. You can access the story here.
Here’s my theory: Everything the Wentz camp does is done with a thinking cap on, with potential public reaction in mind. The young man is a huge public figure, especially in Philadelphia and they all know it, with they being the Rep 1 Sports agency or those closest to the rookie quarterback. It has since the day Wentz signed with Ryan Tollner, which is why nothing caught Wentz by surprised from the first day he arrived at the Rep 1 facility in Irvine, Calif., until this very minute. Nothing is left to chance.
Wentz was not surprised by the Senior Bowl. He knew exactly what to do at the Combine and certainly was well prepared for his Pro Day at NDSU. He was well-versed on what to do at the NFL Draft, right down to walking his mother through the Red Carpet Entrance to the companies he represents through endorsements. So why would he tweet about being locked in a gas station? To show he’s humble and not so high on himself that he can’t poke fun of himself. Stuff like that happens to hourly Philadelphia assembly line workers on their break. It can happen to millionaire quarterbacks, too.
